MARTY HAGY Funeral Service Licensee

Paul Martin “Marty” Hagy is a second-generation funeral director at Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home.   From his early childhood he has grown up in a funeral service family.  Marty is a 1969 graduate of John I. Burton High School and graduate of East Tennessee State University.  He earned his mortuary service degree from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, TN, and joined the firm in 1975, remaining there ever since. He and his wife, Mary, are both lifelong residents of Norton.

Marty is an active member of the Virginia Funeral Directors Association, a firefighter and Captain with the Norton Fire Department, and a member of the Kiwanis Club of Norton.  The First Baptist Church of Norton is his church home.

JOSEPH FAWBUSH Funeral Service Licensee

Joe Fawbush is a lifelong resident of Norton and a 1981 graduate of J. I. Burton High School. Joe earned his mortuary science degree in 1985 from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tn. He began his apprenticeship at the funeral home in 1985 and became a funeral service licensee in 1987. In 2000 Joe and Marty became partners in the funeral home.

Joe currently serves as the Mayor of the City of Norton, President of the Lions Club of Norton and serves on several boards and commissions in Southwest Virginia.

Joe resides in Norton with his wife Christy.

HOUSTON THACKER Funeral Service Intern

Houston is a lifelong resident of the Wise County area. He is a 2019 Graduate of J.I. Burton High School with many accolades in high school football and basketball.

Since Houston was 13 years of age he wanted to be a funeral director. He began his internship with the funeral home in September 2019. His plans are to attend John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science in Nashville, Tn. and pursue a career in funeral service. Houston resides in Norton.

GEORGE ROBERTS Funeral Director’s Assistant

George is a lifelong resident of the Norton and Wise County area. He served in the U.S. Air Force with four years active duty and four years in the reserves. He retired in 1992 from the Virginia ABC Authority as a store manager with 38 years of service. George started working at the funeral home as funeral director’s assistant the same year. George resides in the Josephine community of Wise County.

ROGER ROBERTS Funeral Director’s Assistant

Roger is a lifelong resident of Wise County. He served in the U.S. Army with over 2 years active duty and 4 years in the reserves. He retired from Verizon Telephone Company in 2001 with almost 32 years of service. Roger started working at the funeral home as a funeral director’s assistant in 2008. Roger has spent over 32 years in the ministry and resides in Wise with his wife Donna.
